What WON’T Car Salesmen Do To Get Your Cash?
I was driving to work today and noticed a wonderful picture on the way there; so good that I had to stop in the middle of the road to take the photo and get a good laugh…
What’s marketing coming to these days? I don’t imagine Bush crafted up the idea of the Economic Stimulus package to stimulate cars salesmen banking accounts, but I could be wrong.
Yes, there are worse things to invest in, and if you don’t have a good car, this may save your butt for sure, but my impression of this photo is that they’re trying to prey on it. Seeing it from all sides, I don’t blame them. I am sure they’ll make a few good sales off it, and more power to them, but it really does bring new meaning to sleazy car salesmen tactics.
The whole point of it is to help people get OUT of debt. Cars are not a good investment!
Quoting Jeffrey Strain from SavingAdvice.com:
“One of the worst investments you can make is to borrow money to purchase a depreciating asset. Much like timeshares, a new car loses a good percentage of its value the second it’s driven off the dealer’s lot. While technically an automobile isn’t really an investment at all (it’s a consumable expense – you buy a car to use it up, to consume it, not to realize a yield from it in most cases), many people need one to get to work and thus it is an essential consumable.”
If you need a car, you need a car and this just happens to be another “sale” that the car companies are dishing out (alongside their 128 other “sales” throughout the year) and it too will pass and another gig will come up in place of this one.
I just find it mildly humorous to know that they’ll stop at nothing to get you in their front door… Anyone heard of any other ridiculous sales pitches from car salesmen?
