A single fraudulent account was opened in his name. It was easier than we expected to clear things up - maybe because of the high awareness, and probably b/c the debt was small (a few hundred bucks). We filed a police report and flagged his credit report. But there are certainly cases of identity theft that are overwhelming and devastating. It's scary, really. On a different, but similar note, the bank called me this morning to inform me that they detected fraudulent use of my credit card. Again, no big deal - card was canceled, a new one will be issued, charges were cleared - but there's still that yucky feeling, like I had a forced glimpse into EVIL. Sigh.
