Hanks Weekly Hangouts #21 (March 15, 2008)

This week has been a good week all around for MyInvestingBlog. We had close to 10,000 visitors thanks to a few viral posts, “How do I publicize my blog“, “will Brett Favre’s retirement affect the stock market“, and “a slick StumbleUpon option you may not know about“. Sold a few advertisementing spots and started up at EntreCard. I wouldn’t be here without the help of the rest of the Personal Finance blogosphere…

1. GatherLittleByLittle isn’t a big fan of P2P lending, and I have to say I’m in the same boat. I think it got quickly saturated and isn’t really driving home the big $ everyone says it once was.

2. FinancingWealth warned me not to become a statistic in the mortgage crisis. Makes sense, and definitely worth a look to avoid it.

3. TheConsumerist ponders how much credit scores really matter. It’s a good point, if you’re doing alright, and don’t need a loan, you’re probably not worried about it.

4.
How much does inflation affect your savings? Raagvamdatt lays out that saving in savings just isn’t enough. It really isn’t, make your $$$ work!

5. SaveandConquer has a frugal wedding. I can attest to the benefits of that! Good call!

6. SmartYoungMoney is a blog I’ve recently found worth a gander. They ask if debt consolidation is a worthwhile idea. I think it is a good method to take if you’re in over your head. And much better than bankruptcy.

7. FinanceBlog shows us 10 financial mistakes to avoid! A good start to skip bad investing and stick to the good!

8. Squawkfox learned 10 investing decisions from their dog? Really? Apparently knowledge is everywhere!

9. BloggingMyWayOutOfDebt is finally under 13k on her car loan! Congrats! Just wait till you pay it ALL off! You’ll be MUCH better off! :)

10. No load bond funds? Worth it? BondIndexFunds thinks so. Do you agree? I personally, even in todays market, think the return is a little low; but still worth a look!
